The Caledonia City Council on Aug. 26 approved a proposal to replace squad‑car cameras for four police vehicles with an Axon Fleet package priced at $57,432 and payable over five years.
City Clerk/Administrator Jake Dickson presented the Fleet proposal as an addition to an earlier purchase this year of tasers and body cameras, and said Public Safety Aid would cover a portion of the cost; after that aid is applied the remaining expense would be included in the city budget. Mayor DeWayne “Tank” Schroeder moved to approve the proposal, Member Amanda Ninneman seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
Council members did not record changes to the purchase terms at the meeting. The approved payment plan spreads the stated $57,432 cost over five years; the city characterized the ongoing payments as a budgeted future expense following application of state aid.
