Mantorville council adopts master fee schedule, approves horse in expansion area and tables National Night Out

The Mantorville City Council on June 9 approved changes to its Master Fee Schedule, granted a resident permission to keep a horse in the city's urban expansion area, accepted two fire-department retirements and handled routine administrative items.
At a public hearing opened at 7:40 p.m., the council set this year’s food-truck license fee at $25 and waived fees for the Tuesday-night bandshell music series; councilmembers discussed raising the fee to $100 next year. City Clerk-Treasurer Gretchen Lohrbach told the council she had previously believed kennels were prohibited but located an ordinance that allows them, and said she will review the code book for other inconsistencies. Councilmember Lynnette Nash moved to approve the Master Fee Schedule as presented; Councilmember Lyle Hoaglund seconded and the motion passed 4-0.
In new business, Councilmember Nash moved and Councilmember Kim Boyum seconded to allow Risa Fellows, whose property at 60256 HWY 57 is in Mantorville’s urban expansion area, to add a horse to her property; the motion carried 4-0. Discussion of National Night Out was tabled to the July 14 meeting by unanimous vote.
Council also accepted two Fire Department retirements — Curt Kramer (20 years) and Roger Nolte (45 years) — and approved City Clerk Lohrbach applying for WEX Fleet Cards for the city. The council pulled the Eagle Meadows final plat and developer agreement from the table, noted that Bigelow Homes will build a lift station and that the sewer access charge for that development will be reduced from $2,000 to $1,000, then tabled the item again to July 14 to allow further consideration. A separate item on a street light on HWY 57 across from Casey’s was discussed and tabled pending quotes.
