Dayton utility board adopts revised waste, sewer and stormwater fee schedules; approves lighting contracts

Town Attorney Alicia Albertson introduced Ordinance 2024-11, "An Ordinance Amending the Solid Waste Collection and Disposal Rates to Establish a Revised Fee Schedule." Council Member Steve Schuhle moved to suspend the rules and have the ordinance read by title only; Rocky Richards seconded. The board then suspended the rules to pass the ordinance on first and second reading and adopted it in a roll-call vote of Carla Snodgrass — yes; Marc Buhrmester — yes; Rocky Richards — yes; Leah Copas — yes; Steve Schuhle — yes.
Bridget Cadwallader read Ordinance 2024-12 by title, "An Ordinance Amending The Sewer Rates To Establish A Revised Fee Schedule." Following a motion by Steve Schuhle, seconded by Rocky Richards, the board adopted Ordinance 2024-12 on first and second reading by the same unanimous roll-call vote.
The board also moved to adopt Ordinance 2024-16, "An Ordinance Amending Chapter 54: Stormwater Management," after Town Attorney Alicia Albertson presented the ordinance and a motion by Steve Schuhle to suspend the rules. The ordinance was approved on first and second reading by a unanimous roll-call vote.
In other business the board approved the June 2024 Adjustment Report after a motion by Carla Snodgrass and second by Steve Schuhle. Marc Buhrmester presented and the board approved a Duke Energy lighting service agreement for Baker Farms Phase Three after his motion to accept the agreement, seconded by Leah Copas. The board also approved a Duke Energy LED Lighting Service Agreement; Utility Board President Carla Snodgrass moved to approve the contract and to authorize Marc Buhrmester to sign, with Leah Copas seconding. All motions passed by unanimous roll-call votes.
Public comment included a question from Glen Scheffer of 100 Nicely Drive about expected savings from LED lighting and a question about the town's water source; Town Marshal Robert Taylor also offered comments related to the UZO Amendment 112C discussion. The meeting adjourned at the conclusion of business.
