Covington Redevelopment Commission to gift Pearl Street parcel to OSF and approve TIF spending for Shiloh lighting and paving

The Redevelopment Commission voted to gift a Pearl Street property to OSF contingent on development of a health care facility and approved spending TIF funds for Shiloh street lighting and paving a block of Orchard Drive to bring it to code; motions carried 3-0.
At the Redevelopment Commission meeting Oct. 28, President Brad Smith said no bids were received for the proposed health care facility on Pearl Street. Mayor Brad Crain recommended that the commission gift the property to OSF contingent on OSF building the facility. Todd Hegg moved to gift the property to OSF on that contingency, Justin Martin seconded and the motion carried 3-0.
Commissioners then discussed the Dec. 1 filing of a TIF spending plan in the state Gateway system. The commission approved a spending plan to use TIF monies for Shiloh street lighting and for paving the last block of Orchard Drive to 13th Street to bring the street up to code. Todd Hegg moved the spending motion, Justin Martin seconded and the vote carried 3-0.
The commission adjourned after approving the motions. Minutes list President Brad Smith, Todd Hegg and Justin Martin as present; several commissioners were absent.
