Crothersville Parks Board reviews five-year master plan, small budget and Countryside Music logistics

The Crothersville Parks Board met at Countryside Park on Sept. 16, 2025, where members approved the minutes and the meeting agenda and discussed a forthcoming five-year Master Plan and near-term park work.
The board recorded attendance (Brooke Monroe, Steve Plasse and Jay Roberts) and approved the minutes and agenda by recorded motions (Brooke moved; Jay seconded; both motions carried). President Glen Prince noted the board’s mission to “promote healthy lifestyles and strengthen the Crothersville community through maintaining quality parks and programming” and said the board intends to develop a five-year Master Plan to guide priorities.
Board members reviewed current finances and small capital needs. The general account balance was reported at $2,909.41, with designated funds including $2,497.41 for the bouncy/event account and $3,072.17 for shelter/camp; the disc-golf fund held $546.17. With roughly $2,500 available in the annual operating budget for immediate use, the board listed planned purchases including four parking blocks, a culvert and rock for Countryside road and a trail bridge, plus a living hedge/fenceline and a wisteria arbor for Veterans Park.
Members also finalized logistics for Countryside Music in the Park. The event lineup listed an open mic, three bands and a late set by the Brian Fink Band. Volunteers and board members will staff parking and setup: Brooke Monroe and Jay Roberts will begin setup and supervision, Steve Plasse will provide two 110-volt receptacles for Lucille’s food truck, Jay Roberts will coordinate trash and recycling with Mason, and Mason is assigned to move picnic tables and handle onsite trash. The board set vendor placement along the north fence of field 1, required that field 1 remain passable to field 2, and reiterated a no-parking-beyond-the-fence rule.
Other business included tabling Bard Street improvements and the parks website to future meetings, continued installation of disc-golf tee boxes as time allows, and scheduling the next meeting for Oct. 20 at Veterans Park. The meeting adjourned at 7:21 p.m. on a motion by Brooke Monroe, seconded by Jay Roberts.
The board’s notes also include a list of 2025–2029 Master Plan priorities and fundraising tallies for projects such as Countryside Shelter improvements (CFJC grant $15,000 and a $5,000 donation from Cerrowire) and disc-golf signage and gravel sponsors. The board did not take final votes on the master plan during this meeting; further work and assignments were noted for future meetings.
