Board approves negative special-education allowable growth, 28E sharing agreement and ends soccer sharing with Waverly

The board also approved a 28E teacher/librarian sharing agreement with Gladbrook-Reinbeck for the 2024–25 school year. Separately, the board moved to terminate the soccer-sharing agreement with Waverly Community School District effective for the 2024–25 school year; that motion also carried 3-0.
The board asked administration to present early-retirement options for FY2024 at the October meeting; that item will be discussed at a future agenda. The approvals recorded on Sept. 16 do not specify further budget allocations beyond the allowable growth figure recorded in the minutes.
Next steps: Administration should proceed with executing the 28E agreement and notify affected athletic programs and partner districts about the end of the soccer-sharing arrangement.
