State representative asks why Highway 56 speed limit through Rose Creek changed to 60 mph

State Representative Patty Mueller raised a concern during the Nov. 6 Rose Creek council meeting about the posted speed limit on State Highway 56 through the city.
Mueller said the speed limit was posted at 60 mph after the COVID period; she contrasted that with the prior 45 mph limit that existed when the local school was open. She said she has met with Minnesota Department of Transportation staff, including Jeff Baker, and that she will stay in contact with MnDOT as the legislature reconvenes Feb. 12, 2024.
The council did not take a formal vote on the issue at the meeting; Mueller indicated she would continue to pursue background information and communications with state transportation officials.
