Council accepts Chavezs resignation and schedules Nov. 8 special election

Councilman Mike Chavez told the Rose Creek City Council on April 4 that he will resign effective July 1, 2022 because he is moving out of town. The council accepted his resignation and arranged for a special election to fill the remaining two years of the term.
Councilwoman Bobbie Greenlee moved to accept Chavezs resignation; Councilman Andrew Felten seconded and Mayor Craig Weis approved the motion. Because Chavez had more than two years left on his term, county officials informed the council that the vacancy requires a special election. Councilman Felten moved to schedule the special election for the Nov. 8, 2022 general election; Councilman Mark Conradt seconded and the motion was approved. The council also agreed to appoint an interim council member to serve for the remainder of 2022 and instructed Mayor Weis and Councilwoman Greenlee to pursue a commitment for an appointment before Chavez leaves.
The actions were recorded in the meeting minutes; the council did not name a replacement at the April 4 meeting.
