Council approves emergency Hurricane Dorian meal contract and several major purchasing actions

Savannah City Council on Oct. 24 authorized several purchasing actions, including an emergency meal procurement for Hurricane Dorian response and a large drainage contract modification.
Council approved an emergency procurement in the amount of $144,000 with Ranco Response to supply meals during Hurricane Dorian (Item #24). Mayor Pro-Tem Carolyn H. Bell moved to approve the item and Alderman Brian Foster seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
The council also approved multiple contract renewals and procurement items, including authorization to procure DUO Access licensing for $161,568 and Mitel phones for $30,700. A notable capital contract modification — Contract Modification No. 7 with Thomas & Hutton for Bilbo Canal Drainage Improvements — was approved in the amount of $708,498 (Item #31).
Item #26, a proposed $183,850 contract with Total Systems Commissioning, Inc. for Arena LEEDv4 commissioning agent services, was continued to the Nov. 7 City Council meeting on a motion from Alderwoman Dr. Estella E. Shabazz.
Council approved these procurements and renewals as listed on the agenda, with motions made and seconded from the dais and unanimous votes recorded. The purchases address immediate storm response logistics, ongoing IT and facilities needs, and capital drainage work intended to support flood control efforts in the Bilbo Canal project area.
