Library board member hails county broadband grant and urges community-center planning

The speaker said Wasa County secured a Round 10 broadband grant that adds about $1.1 million in state money to a prior Round 9 award. "Altogether the two projects together will equal almost $7.5 million of broadband development in the county," the speaker said, and officials expect main-line construction next year with resident connections completed in a second phase by the end of 2026.
The commenter also praised county EDA support and said the library board is "very, very excited" about the possibilities for a community center, encouraging the city to use county resources, including grant-writing assistance.
At the same meeting the event organizer reported that the 2024 Songs in the Park series ran smoothly, had strong local participation, and that a tentative budget and sponsorship plan are being prepared for next year pending City Council approval.
The chair thanked the speakers and noted staff will follow up on relevant items. No formal action on broadband or a community-center plan was taken during the meeting.
