Keota Comm School District board approves technology purchases, curriculum platforms and enrollment contracts

Board President Billie Kindred presided as the Keota Comm School District Board of Education voted unanimously July 11 to approve a package of technology purchases, curriculum licenses and enrollment agreements intended for the 2024–25 school year.
The board approved by 5-0 votes purchases that included six Dell laptops for elementary staff, 50 Dell Chromebooks for elementary students, nine Apple MacBooks for staff and one iPad for K. Kaplan, and the i-Ready curriculum and licensing from Curriculum Associates. Dan Redlinger moved to approve the technology purchases; Pat Hammen seconded, and the motions carried unanimously.
The board also approved the purchase of the Canvas learning management system and Imagine Learning (Edgenuity) courses and licenses, and approved the Indian Hills concurrent enrollment contract for 2024–25. Andy Conrad moved approval of the Canvas purchase; Jim Tinnes seconded. Each of those motions carried 5-0.

Why it matters: The purchases and contracts expand classroom technology and curriculum access for students in the coming school year and preserve dual-enrollment options through Indian Hills. Board members described the approvals as routine business to prepare for fall instruction.
Superintendent Lisa Brenneman noted staff will bring additional vendor approvals (including GoGuardian) for approval as needed. The board set its next regular meeting for Aug. 8, 2024.
