Haverhill approves bills, a building permit and municipal contracts for mowing, park work and a new sign

At its April 14 meeting the Haverhill City Council authorized payment of listed bills, approved a building permit for a storage shed, accepted Z Lawn Service bids for mowing, park treatments and seeding, authorized bulletin-board purchases, and awarded a contract to Sign Creations for a new city sign. All motions passed unanimously.
The Haverhill City Council on April 14 authorized payment of the General Fund bills, approved a building permit for a storage shed, and awarded several small municipal contracts, all by unanimous votes.
A motion by Mayor Madaleine Welton, seconded by Council member Stalzer, authorized the clerk to issue warrants in payment of the listed General Fund bills; the motion carried with aye votes from Daters, Faircloth, Stalzer, Vanderah and Welton. The minutes list vendor and payroll items including Alliant Energy, Arnold Motor Supply, Git N Go and a clerk salary entry.
The council approved a building permit for Jared Ridout to construct a storage shed; the permit motion was moved by Vanderah and seconded by Welton and carried unanimously.
The city received two bids for mowing and grounds work — Z Lawn Service (Melbourne) and G & G Services LLC — and voted to accept the Z Lawn Service bid to cover mowing at the Fire Station, City Park, the Blacksmith Shop and the Main & 1st triangle. The council separately approved Z Lawn Service bids for chemical treatments of the city park (motion moved by Faircloth, seconded by Welton) and for seeding areas where sidewalks were removed (motion moved by Daters, seconded by Welton). All of those motions carried with unanimous ayes.
The council also authorized the clerk to purchase new bulletin boards for the post office and a waterproof-cased bulletin board for the shelter house for posting city news. In a separate motion the council accepted a bid from Sign Creations to provide a new City of Haverhill sign; the motion was moved by Stalzer and seconded by Welton and carried unanimously.
The council adjourned at 7:56 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 12, 2025 at 6:30 p.m.
