Northfield council adopts emergency amendment to 2024 appropriations

The Village of Northfield Council voted unanimously Oct. 23 to adopt an emergency amendment to its 2024 appropriation resolution that includes changes related to the Fire Department.
Law Director Brad Bryan read the measure by title. Councilmember Renell Noack moved to suspend the three-reading rule; the motion was seconded by Councilmember Alan Hipps and approved on a roll-call vote of Ferko, Noack, Magistrelli and Hipps voting yes. Noack then moved to adopt the resolution and Hipps seconded; the same four councilmembers voted yes and the emergency appropriation amendments were approved.
Finance Director and Clerk Jennifer Potvin told council she had provided updated financial statements through Sept. 30, 2024 and a memo explaining the fire-department-related budget amendments that were included in the resolution. The minutes do not list line-by-line appropriation amounts in the text of the meeting minutes.
The council did not debate or amend the legislation on the floor beyond the procedural suspensions and adoption motions; there were no recorded no or abstain votes. The meeting record shows the resolution was treated as an emergency appropriations measure and carried by unanimous roll call.
The council adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
