Dayton schedules April hearing on proposed Baker Farms West annexation

The Town of Dayton council on March 18 acknowledged receipt of a petition for the voluntary annexation of property connected to Baker Farms West and set a public hearing for April 15, 2025, at 7:05 p.m.

Ryan Munden presented the petition and an accompanying fiscal plan and discussed a related proposal to disannex County Road 375. Board President Marc Buhrmester moved to acknowledge receipt of the annexation petition; the motion carried on a roll-call vote with Council Members Carla Snodgrass, Marc Buhrmester, Rocky Richards and Steve Schuhle voting yes. Buhrmester then moved to acknowledge first reading of the annexation ordinance by title only; that motion also passed unanimously.

Munden told the council he would send the public-hearing notice to Clerk-Treasurer Bridget Cadwallader for publication; Cadwallader was assigned to publish the notice. The council did not take final action on the ordinance at the March 18 meeting; the scheduled April 15 hearing will be the next formal opportunity for public input and possible further readings of the ordinance.

The council’s actions on March 18 were limited to acknowledging the filing and placing the matter on the calendar; the record shows no final vote on annexation or on the fiscal plan at this meeting. The clerk’s office will publish the hearing notice as required and the council will revisit the ordinance at the April hearing.
