At the Oct. 13 Walker City Council meeting, resident Mike Gillingham asked the council to consider paying for his sewer backflow prevention valve and the cost of installation. Gillingham said he and his household have already paid about $10,000 beyond what his insurance covered to repair damage from a July sewer backup.
Councilmembers did not act on the request that night. Instead, they asked Gillingham to provide copies of the invoices for the valve and installation so the council can review the documentation at its next regular meeting, scheduled for Monday, Nov. 10, 2025. The minutes record no further public comment on the matter.
No vote or commitment to reimburse was recorded; the request remains under consideration pending receipt of the bills.
