The Brownsville City Council approved Bollig Engineering Task Order #2 on Nov. 6 to prepare a Preliminary Engineering Report (PER) and Environmental Report (ER) required for pursuing Rural Development funding for sewer infrastructure improvements.
Mayor Jean Meyer told the council that sewer work is a priority and that preliminary engineering is required before grant applications can be submitted; engineering fees can often be included in grant requests. After discussion, the council approved Task Order #2 with payment deferred until funding is secured (motion: mover Barb Hurley; second: Bill Fitzpatrick).
On Nov. 7 a follow‑up phone call from Kris Ambuehl reported that Bollig Engineering requested a modest up‑front payment. An email polling council members produced unanimous affirmative responses to submit $5,000 to Bollig Engineering as an earnest payment to begin work on Task Order #2.
