Harmony EDA backs community splash pad; organizers aiming for $100,000

The Harmony Economic Development Authority voted unanimously on Nov. 5 to support the community-led splash pad fundraising effort.
Sandy Strozyk told the board that “they had raised over $30,000 to date” for the splash pad and that the city planned to contribute $16,000 toward needed infrastructure. Strozyk said Give to the Max Day proceeds would be directed to the project, and organizers are aiming to reach a $100,000 fundraising goal by the end of 2020 so construction can begin in 2021.
Board members thanked Strozyk for the update and expressed that the project would be beneficial for the community. Motion and vote: Kerry Kingsley moved and Steve Sagen seconded a motion to support the splash pad project and its fundraising efforts; the motion carried unanimously with Chair Chris Skaalen, Steve Donney, Kerry Kingsley and Steve Sagen voting yes.
Next steps: organizers will continue fundraising through Give to the Max Day and other channels; the EDA voiced support but did not commit additional funds beyond the city’s $16,000 infrastructure contribution noted in the update.
