Rose Creek council approves FY2022 appointments, personnel changes and memorial donations

The Rose Creek City Council met on Feb. 7, 2022, and approved a series of administrative and personnel actions, including its FY2022 appointments and a small memorial donation.
Mayor Craig Weis presided over the meeting, which opened at 5:45 p.m. The council unanimously approved the Jan. 3, 2022 regular and closed minutes and the meeting agenda. The council accepted the resignation of Bruce Nelson from the Rose Creek Fire Department after a motion from Council Man Mark Conradt and a second from Council Man Mike Chavez; Mayor Weis approved the action.
Council Man Mike Chavez moved, with Council Woman Bobbie Greenlee seconding, to approve the slate of 2022 appointments. The approved list designates Bobbie Greenlee as acting mayor, Mower County Independent as the official newspaper, United Farmers State Bank as the official bank, Attorney Troy Gilchrist as legal counsel, Mayo Austin as official doctor, Smith Schafer as auditor, Mayor Craig Weis and Council Woman Bobbie Greenlee to sign checks, and other assignments for weed inspection, water/sewer, streets and parks, purchasing, civil defense and fire department leadership.
Chavez also moved to add part‑time public works/maintenance employee Robert Jax to the city's PERA retirement account and the municipal Visa account; the motion, seconded by Council Man Mark Conradt, was approved by Mayor Weis. Earlier in the meeting the council authorized providing Jax with necessary keys and clearing the former meter‑reading tablet for his use (motions by Chavez; second by Conradt).
The council approved payment of all invoices and payroll and voted to make a $100 contribution to PTTP/Hormel Institute consisting of two $50 memorials for former mayors Keith Price and Pete Kuhlman. The playground item on the agenda was tabled. The meeting adjourned at 7:23 p.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for March 7, 2022, at 5:45 p.m.
