Warden reports jail population, rising community service hours and three officer vacancies

At the May 26 Board of Inspectors meeting, Warden Ryan Tipton presented the jail’s operational report and population figures. Tipton said the facility’s population included 17 females and 63 males, with eight inmates housed for other facilities and one inmate from another facility housed here. He reported 32 inmates sentenced to the county and five sentenced to state custody.
Tipton said community service hours are increasing because work‑release–eligible inmates have been assisting with cemetery cleanups. “The community service hours are picking up as the inmates who are work‑release eligible have been helping to clean up the cemeteries,” he said.
On staffing, Tipton told the board one correctional officer recently resigned and the jail currently has three officer vacancies. The meeting record also notes one inmate at Warren General on an emergency 302 hold.
A motion to accept the Warden’s report was made and carried unanimously. The board set its next meeting for June 23, 2026.
