Laurens City Council approves pay request to Sande, adopts two resolutions and removes pool change order from consent agenda

Councilwoman Hannah Zylstra moved to approve the consent agenda “as amended – removing item number 5- Change Order #2 Laurens Pool Project,” and John Jamison seconded. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote, allowing the council to proceed to the claims and payroll items presented by the clerk. The claims list included a Sande Construction pay request for $190,637.26 and a total claims line of $249,561.00; payroll for the period ending June 24, 2024, totaled $24,653.90.
Later in the meeting John Jamison moved to approve Resolution 11-24, the SRT Grant; the motion was recorded as seconded and passed on a roll-call vote with Councilmembers Hannah Zylstra, John Jamison and Jean Swanson voting aye and no votes recorded. Booth and Christenson were absent.
Hannah Zylstra then moved to approve Resolution 12-24, naming Troy Oehlertz as the 2024 Grand Marshal; Jamison seconded. The motion passed with the same roll-call tally: Zylstra, Jamison and Swanson voting aye and no nays recorded.
The council approved Pay Request #10 to Sande Construction on a motion by Zylstra and a second from Swanson; the motion carried. Councilwoman Zylstra moved to adjourn at 5:30 p.m.; Jamison seconded and the meeting was adjourned.
The meeting packet and the claims list presented at the session include vendor payments to Alliant Energy, LMU utilities, payroll and insurance with itemized amounts; the clerk’s report also listed fund balances by fund including a Pool Restricted balance that reflected $200,637.26 in that line.
