Park and Recreation committee members briefed council on a community Ohio 250 picnic and a Gold Star Memorial dedication planned for July 25. The committee said the event will include a pediatric walk (sponsored by the Lions Club), a golf-cart tour of the Gold Star Memorial for attendees with limited mobility, a dedication ceremony with invited speakers, music (Ohio Muffins at 1 p.m.), the Buckland Bistro food truck, and a bike raffle that currently lists at least 16 bicycles for children.
Committee members named several volunteers and donors contributing to the event, including a plan for a food vendor, a Corvette appearance wrapped for the 250 celebration, and contributions from local organizations such as Blue Star Mothers. Registration and volunteer support will be coordinated through local churches and community volunteers. Council members were asked to consider participating in a July 8 reading of the Declaration of Independence as part of countywide 250th observances.
