Police Chief David Pernice reviewed recent call volumes and incidents earlier in the meeting, saying the department handled 269 calls between June 1 and Aug. 13, averaging about 3.63 calls per day and noting some incidents consumed entire shifts. The chief and an officer recently completed an active‑shooter training, and the department received Union City Community Foundation awards for four tasers and additional security cameras.
The council did not specify a start date in the minutes. The council also held executive sessions on personnel before and after the public meeting; the post‑meeting session ran from 7:06 p.m. to 7:52 p.m. with no action recorded.
