Spirit Lake council approves routine financial items, pay application and salt storage award

The Spirit Lake City Council approved a packet of routine business Oct. 14 that included financial reports, vendor payments and two project resolutions.
Councilmember Kofoot moved and Councilmember Mensing seconded approval of the September 23 meeting minutes, the October bill list and the Treasurer’s Report for September; all motions passed unanimously. The bill list included line items totaling $568,704.21 for October 2025 (examples: Beck Engineering $42,745.00; Alliant Energy $28,558.71; Waste Management $45,916.08).
Council approved third-quarter manual journal entries and transfers including a $225,000 transfer from Local Option Sales Tax to the General Fund and a $34,165.03 transfer from Water to the Water Revenue Sinking Fund for revenue bond requirements. Council also approved a Class C Retail Alcohol License with catering for McKeen’s 22nd Street Pub & Grill.
On project business the council unanimously adopted Resolution No. 2025-53, approving Pay Application #2 and closing out the 2024 City seal coat project, and adopted Resolution No. 2025-54 accepting a competitive quote and awarding the 2025 salt storage building project. The meeting adjourned after those votes.
