Finance committee hears of costly water-line leak at Gilbert school, approves minutes

The W. L. Gilbert School Corporation finance committee heard on Nov. 20 that a major water-line leak forced unplanned repairs and required expenses to be shifted into building maintenance.

Diane Cook, Business Affairs Manager, told the committee the September and October reports showed the facility has had increased maintenance work. "Major leak in water line. Expensive and necessary. Building is starting to show 'age'," Cook said, adding that aside from the repair work the building is "looking good." The reports covered both September and October and emphasized ongoing repair needs rather than an unexpected operating shortfall.

The committee opened at 6:03 p.m.; Shane Centrella moved to approve the minutes from the Sept. 18 meeting, and Renata Waldron seconded. The motion carried unanimously. Later, Centrella moved to adjourn at 6:11 p.m.; Waldron seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
