Florence council approves rezoning of 2‑acre Attaway parcel to Attaway Crossing PUD

The Florence Town Council on June 16 approved Ordinance 786‑26 to rezone a roughly 2‑acre parcel (APN 200‑24‑0019F) on the northwest corner of Attaway Road and Hunt Highway from the Merrell Ranch Planned Unit Development to the Attaway Crossing Planned Unit Development.
Maricela (town planning staff) summarized the item and said the Planning and Zoning Commission had forwarded a recommendation of approval after a neighborhood meeting and public notice; no residents spoke at the P&Z hearing. Applicant Julie Vermillion with CVL Consultants told the council the parcel was “an awkward little square” that would be incorporated into the existing Attaway Crossing concept plan and developed with a cul‑de‑sac and about five lots, while retaining a 70‑ft landscape buffer along the northern and eastern perimeters to match the adjoining community.
Council opened the public hearing, heard no public comment, and a councilmember moved to adopt the ordinance. With a second and no further discussion the council voted to adopt Ordinance 786‑26.
The rezoning brings the parcel into the larger PUD’s standards and is intended to allow development consistent with the approved conceptual land‑use plan previously accepted for Attaway Crossing.
