The contractor said roof curbs and rooftop HVAC units are installed and abatement work is finished. Demolition of interior spaces is about 99.9% complete, and crews of about 20–25 workers are on site daily. He said the gym’s air handler and circulation can be operating by Aug. 9–12, allowing overnight economizer runs to flush and cool the space ahead of events.
Board members and district staff pressed for controlled turnover protocols. The contractor said he will not turn locker rooms over early; crews will not enter finished locker rooms unless accompanied by contractor or district staff, and doors will remain locked until formal turnover to prevent student access and potential injuries.
On kitchen readiness, the contractor said the district should have functional kitchen and cafeteria operations by roughly Aug. 15–19, though the building chiller is not expected until late October; the cafeteria and auditorium should be usable for an Aug. 26 district event, even without chilled air. Final control settings, lighting and fire alarm connections are tied to the grid and controls work beginning immediately.
The contractor emphasized that dates could shift if the state approval or other dependencies delay work, but said crews expect to begin demolition activity in winter months with a goal of occupancy as early as next July 1, contingent on state reviews.
The contractor’s description of pacing and his refusal to release locker rooms before full completion was the most explicit safety‑focused commitment the board heard; he also agreed to provide weekly room‑availability lists for district staff.
