EDA recommends $25,000 loan to bring The Bite restaurant to 51 Main Ave

The Harmony Economic Development Authority on Dec. 3 recommended that the city council approve a $25,000 revolving loan to help restaurateur Chelsey Clausen purchase 51 Main Ave, the former Village Square and Falcon’s Nest building, and relocate her business, The Bite.
Staff introduced Clausen’s application and said the total project cost is $140,000; board materials list the requested loan as supporting acquisition costs. The proposed loan would carry a 3.25% fixed interest rate over 10 years. Clausen told the board she anticipates creating six jobs paid about $10–$15 per hour and hopes to open around Jan. 1, 2021.
After discussion of the project’s local economic benefits, Chair Chris Skaalen moved and Steve Sagen seconded a motion to recommend city council approval as requested. The motion carried unanimously.
The board also thanked Clausen for locating her restaurant in Harmony. The recommendation will go to the city council for final action.
