Kenyon — The council voted Tuesday to approve plans and solicit bids for the 25th Street utility project, moving the work into the procurement phase.
Derek, the town engineer, summarized the scope and said final plans are nearly complete and that staff will submit permitting documents to county and state agencies. He told the council the city is still negotiating four easements along Langford Avenue with adjacent property owners but does not anticipate major problems securing them before construction starts.
"With final plans in hand we'll also turn in those plans to permitting agencies as Department Health as a county and a state," Derek said, urging approval so the city can collect bids next month. Councilors moved and approved a resolution authorizing plans, specifications and advertisement for bids.
Councilors asked staff to bring back bid results at the next meeting so members can review prices and determine whether the project fits current estimates. The engineer said he will return with any updated cost information and a recommendation to award once bids are opened.
