Delaware County Intermediate Unit elects leaders and approves partnerships, dual-enrollment and training contracts

At the June 22 William Penn board meeting, Yvette Ivory delivered a Delaware County Intermediate Unit (DCIU) monthly summary detailing recent elections and contracts affecting member districts, including William Penn.
Ivory reported that member districts elected leaders for DCIU board terms beginning July 1, 2026: Barbara Harvey (Marple Newtown), Bob Hornberger (Springfield), Yvette Ivory representing William Penn, Tracy Co. Kwoarsky (Garnet Valley), and Latanya Lee (Haverford Township). Ken Donith (Rose Tree Media) was elected board president and Ivory was elected vice president; Edward Norris was named non-member treasurer. DCIU also appointed Shawn Burns as assistant to the executive director.
The DCIU approved contracts to enhance student learning and pathways: a Careers Through Culinary Arts program that includes curriculum and scholarship elements; a Montgomery County Community College dual-enrollment agreement for biotechnology students; dual-enrollment arrangements with Newman University and Wilkes University for teacher-prep and credit-earning opportunities; and clinical externships with Upper Darby Paramedic Rescue LLC for emergency services students.
Ivory said DCIU approved partnerships and managed-service contracts across districts, including managed security and IT services and a data backup service to be provided by William Penn SD to the IU. The IU also approved agreements for Temple University and Widener University field placements for school psychology and nursing program students at no cost to the IU for specified terms.
Ivory closed by listing upcoming events: the DCIU practical nursing program graduation on July 23 at the DCTS Aston campus and the next DCIU board meeting on Aug. 5 at the Morton location.
