Vision Committee asks HRG for Main Street options including bump-outs and wider sidewalks

At its January 2025 meeting, the New Kingstown Vision Committee requested that HRG prepare designs and cost estimates for three Main Street improvements aimed at traffic control and pedestrian upgrades.
Committee members, led in discussion by Tyler Fairchild and Cheryl Neidig, asked HRG to prepare options that include bump-outs on both the north and south sides at the east end of the Main and Locust Point intersection to slow and control truck turns; curbing in front of the Raudabaugh property; and replacement of existing sidewalks with wider sidewalks along the north side only. Jim Hall requested that the township provide a template for fire-truck turning radii to ensure the designs accommodate emergency vehicles.
Cheryl Neidig told the group that Aaron Moyer of HRG would prepare preliminary master-plan engineering at no charge, a development members described as a welcome surprise. The committee asked HRG to return plans and pricing for review at a future meeting so members can compare costs and impacts before selecting a preferred alternative.
The committee did not specify timelines or funding sources for construction during the meeting; next steps are HRG delivering the requested plan options and the Vision Committee scheduling review and cost discussion.
