Council approves fire department dehumidifiers and authorizes higher piping invoice amid ongoing ambulance maintenance concerns

Jeremy and staff also outlined multiple pending grant efforts — including applications for skid units, an engine tender that would double as a structural truck, and loose equipment grants for radios, extraction gear, hoses and nozzles. Jeremy reported several recent vehicle and ambulance mechanical problems: one frontline ambulance has recurring engine faults and another older unit shows similar issues; a fire tanker had brake and radiator repairs. Council discussed options including grants, possible transfers of decommissioned ambulances from a regional provider, or replacing units if funding allows.
Council approved an increased authorization to cover higher-than-expected piping labor charges for the station compressor project (transcript shows a motion to authorize an invoice increase to approximately $12,692), and approved the dehumidifiers and related purchases by voice vote. Staff emphasized they will continue to pursue grants and return cost and procurement details to council for final approval.
