West High student senate outlines homecoming events and community service

Members of the West High Student Senate told the school board they organize homecoming themes and activities, student fundraisers and community-service projects that engage students and support families.
Amy Perez, a junior and student-body vice president, and Isabella Herring, a sophomore, described the Senate—s role in planning the parade, dance, Powderpuff football and a student food drive. The students said the food drive has provided thousands of meals over recent years and that trunk-or-treat and other outreach events connect high-school and elementary-students.
The board and administrators commended the students for leadership and said the activities contribute to student engagement and attendance. No board action was required; the presentation was informational.
