Harmony EDA considers options to prevent weed overgrowth on Phase III industrial park land

Board member Steve Donney joined the meeting at 7:50 AM. The board reached a consensus to first ask a prospective industrial-park tenant whether it would use the field as a test crop plot; staff member Chris Giesen said he would contact the prospect. If the prospect is not interested, Giesen was asked to determine the cost to plant grass seed and to explore whether the current farmer would trade this year’s rent for performing the seeding.
EDA members said either option—tenant test plot or seeding through a rent trade—would be more efficient and beneficial than hiring out the work or leaving the parcel to grow weeds. The board did not take formal action; members agreed to continue the discussion and have staff return with cost estimates and prospect feedback.
