Council authorizes 20-year amendment to school parking MOU to meet state reimbursement rules

Corporation Counsel Tomasz Kalinowski explained that the original MOU, approved by the Council on July 21, 2022, did not include a contractual term. The amendment adds a 20-year term — the minimum the State requires for the school project to be eligible for reimbursement — and includes a provision allowing termination under specified circumstances. The Council’s vote authorizes the Mayor to execute the amendment so the City can proceed with state reimbursement processing.
The authorization was unanimous; no dissenting votes were recorded. The measure was described in the meeting packet as a technical but necessary change to satisfy the State’s reimbursement rules for the school project.
