Sigourney council approves camera maintenance agreement and other routine finance items

At its Dec. 3 meeting the Sigourney City Council approved a short-term camera maintenance arrangement and several routine finance and operations items.
City Clerk Ashley Fry reported that the council met with Mahaska Communications Group (MGC) about a camera system contract that would include a formal work order to ensure prompt repairs. The initial agreement covers $2,500 for the remainder of fiscal year 2026 and the council agreed to budget $5,000 for FY2027. On a motion by Council member Iosbaker, seconded by Council member Lentz, the council approved labor quotes provided by Mahaska Communications Group and included the FY27 amount in planning.
The council also approved a snow removal advertisement and set a Street and Sanitation meeting for Dec. 23 at 6:00 p.m. Additionally, the council approved Resolution No. 2025-12-36 authorizing a representative and alternate to the Keokuk County Community Endowment Grant; that resolution passed with Council member McLaughlin recorded as abstaining and the other members voting yes.
These measures were taken by roll call votes and recorded in the meeting minutes; none of the items reported new controversy or public comment during the Dec. 3 meeting.
