Woodstock Academy highlights student awards and reports enrollment status

At its Feb. 18 meeting, the Woodstock Academy Board received a detailed packet of student and staff achievements and an enrollment update.
Associate Head of School Holly Singleton presented a handout summarizing recent student honors, including multiple winners in the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) recognition: Diya Patel and Isabel D’Alleva Bochain received Connecticut awards; Sophie Jung received an honorable mention; and Reagan Scheck won a Rising Star Award. Singleton also reported that 14 students were selected into the New England Musical Festival and listed participants and ensemble recognitions.
Other student highlights included selections to international youth sports teams (Jamie-Dean Stewart to the Cayman Islands Boys U17 national basketball team; Ethan Hayes, Shihab Juman, and Jacob Gollop selected for Barbados U17 soccer) and five Scholastic Art Awards across multiple disciplines. At Model United Nations conferences, students earned honorable mentions and delegate awards.
Assistant Head of School Amy Favreau said that residential-life improvements — adding “head of duty” positions and a dedicated activities planner — are improving the boarding experience. Associate Head for External Affairs Jon Sturdevant reported admissions activity to date: 15 new boarding students offered admission, two private-pay day students offered admission, and five contract extensions issued. He said the Academy currently enrolls 165 boarding students representing 32 countries and 21 private-day students; new staff have been added to support re-enrollments and new applications for the fall.
Upcoming events listed in the packet include College Planning Night (March 4), a College Fair (March 5), spring concerts (March 11–12), and an Apple Distinguished School visit (March 14).
