The Woodstock Academy Board of Trustees on Feb. 18 approved a three-year Professional Agreement with the Woodstock Academy Education Association (WAEA) covering July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2028, and set tuition rates for the 2025–26 academic year.
Head of School Chris Sandford presented the contract changes developed by the Negotiating Committee, saying the overarching goals were retention and recruitment. The Board moved (Eric Young/Jeff Tuttle) to approve the Professional Agreement; the motion passed unanimously.
The board also voted (Young/David Morse) to set tuition for 2025–26 at: Sending Town Special Education $19,783; Sending Town Regular Education $18,233; STRIVE $60,000; Therapeutic $75,000; Private Boarding $65,200; Private Day $20,900. The motion carried unanimously.
Associate Head for Finance and Operations Mike Susi reviewed the Profit & Loss highlights in the packet, noting increased electricity and health-insurance costs and a plan by Eversource to purchase the Academy’s tax credits. Finance Committee Chair Hans Rhynhart summarized recent committee deliberations; the discussion provided budget context for tuition planning.
The Board also approved a package of policy updates and a new policy set (motion by Leonard Samborowski, seconded by Andrew Bessette), including: Policy 3600 (Memorials); 4000.1 & 5145.44 (Sexual Harassment/Title IX); and 6148 (FAFSA Completion Requirement). Revised policies approved included 4112.5 (Security Check/Fingerprinting) and 4118.24 (Staff/Student Non-Fraternization). The motion was recorded as unanimous.
Separately, Foundation President Leisl Langevin reported the WA Foundation had unanimously approved Lauren Brown’s appointment as a Foundation Director via electronic vote; the Board accepted the appointment (McGinn/Quinn).
The Board moved into an executive session at 8:06 p.m. to consider contract negotiations, inviting outside consultant David Beecher of The Angeletti Group and several administrators; the session ended at 9:36 p.m. The minutes record no formal action resulting from the executive session. The meeting adjourned at 9:37 p.m.
The Professional Agreement will take effect on July 1, 2025, per the approved term; the tuition rates apply to the 2025–26 academic year. The Board packet and the submitted minutes list the specific policy language approved and the tuition-rate chart.
