Town volunteers and fire-department organizers described several upcoming community events and services at the Corunna meeting.
Halloween and Santa: the Halloween party is set for Saturday, Oct. 25 (activities roughly 4'7 p.m., a movie for older children from 8'10 p.m.). Organizers said they will run interactive booths, a cakewalk, ring toss and a costume contest judged by attendees. The Santa event was scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6 with a daytime route through town followed by photos at the fire station to improve visibility for attendees.
Friendsgiving and clothing drive: volunteers confirmed a Friendsgiving delivery effort and a planning meeting for next Monday at 6 p.m. at town hall; a clothing distribution will take place Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and leftover clothing will be collected and shipped to shelters in Fort Wayne and, if unused, to partners in Kentucky.
Humane shelter clinic: a speaker said organizers located a site in St. Joe for a spay/neuter clinic later this month that averages about 110 surgeries per event. The speaker said the clinic is not free but that state assistance reduces the typical out-of-pocket cost; organizers advised owners not to be deterred by an advertised cap of $100 because many cases are nearer $40 after subsidies.
Craft bazaar and veterans fundraiser: a craft bazaar and veterans fundraiser will run Oct. 17'18 at the veterans building; organizers said proceeds will support local veterans programs.
What happens next: organizers asked for volunteers and donations for the events, with some logistical details to be posted on the town page and handled by event committees.
