Council to develop legislative priorities as session nears; deadlines set for March and April

Councilor Benson briefed the Proctor City Council on upcoming state legislative deadlines and urged the council to prepare a municipal legislative agenda. He said session begins Feb. 17, bill introduction deadlines fall on March 27, and major appropriations must be acted on by April 17; there is an Easter/Passover recess from March 27–April 7.
Councilors agreed to move the matter to unfinished business (agenda item 5B) for the remainder of the legislative session so the council can assemble a list of priorities and consider inviting area legislators to a future meeting. In related business, Chief Elkquist reported fire-department activity for 2025: 619 calls (95 fire, 514 medical, 10 canceled) and four total missed calls for the year. The council set its next regular meeting for Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026.
