At its Feb. 5 meeting the Brownsville City Council tabled employee reviews, approved a tort-liability waiver tied to the city's insurance renewal, approved amended township fire-protection contracts, and heard routine maintenance updates.
Pam Walhovd moved and Barb Hurley seconded to table employee reviews until the March 5 council meeting to allow council members time to review written evaluations. The council approved the tort-liability waiver after discussion; the motion was moved by David Prestby and seconded by Barb Hurley.
Brandon Frank of the Brownsville Fire Department presented updated township emergency-protection contracts; the council agreed to minor amendments and, on a motion by Barb Hurley seconded by Pam Walhovd, approved the contracts as amended. The minutes record maintenance updates from Dean Twite, including that a new submersible pump from Gary's Pump and Well is scheduled for installation this week, Apartment 8 at Bluffview Manor is now rented, painting and lighting at the Community Center are complete, and that Twite and Ben Novak will attend a PFAS webinar on Feb. 10.
Clerk reports noted there is currently no insurance coverage on the Veteran's Memorial; council discussed the issue but took no specific action to secure coverage during the meeting. The council also agreed that an external review or audit of financial records should be conducted in the future; no firm was selected and no formal vote was taken. With no further business, the council adjourned at 8:48 p.m.
