Brownsdale council approves BINGO license, MnDOT snow-clearing pact and several donations

The Brownsdale City Council on Oct. 7 unanimously approved a BINGO gambling license, a five-season snow-cleaning agreement with the Minnesota Department of Transportation and several small donations.
Darr Ehmke of the Brownsdale Volunteer Fire Department requested a gambling license for BINGO at 402 Mill St. S. Council Member Jessica Klingfus moved to approve Resolution 2024-20; Council Member Rick Smith seconded and the council voted 4-0 to carry the resolution.
The council next approved Resolution 2024-16, authorizing a five-season joint powers agreement with MnDOT for snow cleaning on Highway 56 in the business district. Council Member Klingfus moved the resolution; Council Member Smith seconded and the vote was 4-0.
Council also accepted several donations: Resolution 2024-17 accepted a gift from Barb and Jerry Gunderson (unanimous vote); a separate item accepting $88 from the Friends of the Pickleball collection containers was recorded in the meeting minutes as Resolution 204-18 (the record lists that number; see audit note below). Council approved Resolution 2024-19 accepting a donation from Geoff and Susan Smith for the Brownsdale Grace Gillette Library. Each donation vote carried 4-0.
On insurance coverage, Mayor Jeff Foster and the council discussed liability limits and Council Member Klingfus moved that the city not waive liability limits for coverage; the motion passed 4-0.
All roll-call votes recorded in the minutes were 4 Yeas and 0 Nays. The meeting adjourned at 8:29 p.m.
The council's actions were procedural and financial in nature; no ordinance adoptions or long-term contracts beyond the MnDOT joint powers agreement were finalized during the session.
