Principal, activities director and superintendent give program updates; board hires long-term substitute

Principal Patrick Sutlief told the board about near-term student events and activities: a Drivers’ Ed parent informational meeting on Jan. 22, the ASVAB test on Jan. 23, Triple ‘A’ Award winners Alexander Stormoen and Natalie Marxer, a One Act Play showing on Jan. 22 in the LPGE Auditorium with competition on Jan. 25 in Sauk Centre, and the Grand March for Prom at 8:00 P.M.
Activities Director Wayne Petermeier said the district will host the Section 6A softball tournament on May 20, 22, 27, 29 and 30 and the baseball tournament on May 27 and 29, and noted that if athletic enrollment falls below 150 the teams will compete nine-player (previously referred to as nine-man).
Superintendent Scott Vedbraaten briefed the board on the construction project timetable for the coming month and provided current enrollment numbers. No specific enrollment figures or construction milestones were included in the minutes beyond a general timetable being presented.
On personnel, the board approved hiring Kaitlyn Cebulla as the long-term elementary substitute in a motion by Jodi Hillmer, seconded by Keith Noska.
