The Browerville Board of Education on Jan. 13 approved a package of organizational and financial actions for 2025, including appointment of committee representatives, authorizing electronic funds transfers and facsimile signatures, naming bank depositories, and approving vendor claims totaling $2,250,970.47.
An omnibus motion by Member Treg Schultz, seconded by Member Keith Noska, established 2025 details: the Independent News Herald as the official newspaper; official meeting dates (second Monday Jan–May, Aug–Oct, and Dec, with additional dates to be determined); authorization for the chair and/or superintendent to retain legal counsel as needed; and the district’s 2025 mileage reimbursement to follow the federal rate (recorded in the minutes as currently $.70 per mile). The board also confirmed compensation levels at board salary $1,200, chair $400, clerk $200, treasurer $100 and special meeting pay $50.
The board authorized Renee Hiebert (Business Manager), Superintendent Scott Vedbraaten, Chairperson Bob Bryniarski and Treasurer Kelly Callahan to generate electronic fund transfers and transact district financial business, and approved facsimile signatures for payroll and vendor payments while delegating imprest and student activity account check signing to the Business Manager and/or Superintendent.
A motion by Gram Bentz, seconded by Kelly Callahan, named American Heritage National Bank, MSBA Liquid Asset Fund Plus and PMA Inc. as depositories. Following that, a motion by Marty Host, seconded by Treg Schultz, carried to approve vendor claims across funds, listing totals for General Fund, Food Service, Transportation, Building Construction, Debt Service and others for a combined total of $2,250,970.47.
The minutes record motions as carried but do not include roll-call tallies for several of these items; the record does include a roll call for the bond resolution discussed later in the meeting.
