Browerville board approves $2.39M in vendor claims, personnel moves and canvasses election results

The Browerville Public School District board carried a series of routine motions and personnel actions at its Nov. 14 regular meeting.

Vendor claims and accounts: By motion of Marty Host, seconded by Gram Bentz, the board approved vendor claims across district accounts totaling $2,398,582.61 (General Fund $467,268.13; Food Service $49,545.49; Transportation $112,325.22; Community Service $44,650.34; Capital Expenditures $22,737.63; Building Construction $1,695,121.97; Student Activity $5,912.36; Insurance Fund $1,003.47). The motion carried.

Personnel actions: The board approved the 2024–25 certified staff seniority list (motion by Keith Noska, second by Jodi Hillmer). The board also approved hiring Hadassa Morazan and Jacqueline Morelos (motion by Marty Host, second by Treg Schultz). The board accepted resignations from Pamela Buysse, Julia Zinter and Julie Zylka (motion by Kelly Callahan, second by Treg Schultz).

Banking and athletics: The board approved, on motion by Gram Bentz and second by Jodi Hillmer, an increase in the district's single-day ACH limit with American Heritage Bank to $200,000. The board hired Jeff Myers and Jeff Rinde as junior-high basketball coaches for the 2024–25 school year (motion by Hillmer, second by Host). The board also approved overnight wrestling trips on Dec. 6–7, Dec. 20–21 and Jan. 3–4 (motion by Callahan, second by Noska).

Election canvass: Member Marty Host moved and Gram Bentz seconded a motion to approve the results of the school board election held Nov. 5, 2024; Keith Noska, Kelly Callahan and Jodi Hillmer were listed as elected. The minutes record the seven members as voting in favor and note no votes against; the canvass was passed.

Final items: The board took a group picture for the school annual and adjourned at 7:00 p.m. (motion by Noska, second by Hillmer).
