Browerville superintendent reports building progress, enrollment uptick and policy changes

Superintendent Scott Vedbraaten told the Browerville Public School District board on Oct. 14 that work on the district building project is progressing and that the gym wall is expected to start going up the week of Oct. 28.
Vedbraaten gave a brief operations update that included a reminder about an early-out schedule, a new phone policy the district is implementing, recent improvements to school libraries and an increase in student numbers in the previous week. He also noted the November board meeting date had been changed to Nov. 14 at 6:00 P.M.
K-12 Principal Patrick Sutlief reported on student programming, including an NHS blood drive on Sept. 25 that collected 32 units and Career and College activities such as a Sept. 24 visit to Central Lakes College. Sutlief said the ASVAB testing date is to be determined and that district testing will require use of the community center.
Activities Director Wayne Petermeier reported several athletics items: the district’s fall-sports teams are entering playoff season, the Benson Braves were admitted to the conference, and the district hired junior-high wrestling coach Ryan Hiebert. Petermeier also said 4–8 grade football players will play at U.S. Bank Stadium on Oct. 27 and that sixth-grade girls will participate on the junior-high girls basketball roster this year.
The board took no separate action on the construction timeline during the meeting; the construction update was informational. The meeting adjourned at 7:13 P.M.
