Browerville school board approves $2.58 million in claims, hires winter coaches and signs encroachment agreement

Chairman Bob Bryniarski called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. Board members moved and carried a motion to approve the agenda and the Sept. 9, 2024, minutes. Business Manager Renee Hiebert presented vendor claims across district accounts and the board carried approval of a combined total of $2,577,789.97, including $429,614.70 from the General Fund and $2,044,995.11 for Building Construction.
The board approved personnel hires for winter activities on a motion by Kelly Callahan, seconded by Keith Noska. Approved appointments included boys and girls basketball coaches, wrestling coaches, speech supervisors, theater and knowledge-bowl staff and open-gym supervision as listed in the official minutes. The board also carried approval of maternity leave for two employees and approved a Memorandum of Understanding for LETRS literacy training mandated by the state.
Superintendent Scott Vedbraaten reported routine operational items, including a new phone policy, a rescheduled November meeting (Nov. 14 at 6:00 P.M.), and ongoing progress on the district building project. Activities Director Wayne Petermeier reported athletic updates and staffing, including the hiring of junior-high wrestling coach Ryan Hiebert and confirmation that 4–8 grade football players will play at U.S. Bank Stadium on Oct. 27.
On administrative matters, the board carried approval of the 2024–2025 Assurance of Compliance for nondiscrimination and approved the polling places set by Todd County for 2025; the minutes record votes in favor by board members Keith Noska, Jodi Hillmer, Gram Bentz, Kelly Callahan, Marty Host and Bob Bryniarski. The board also carried approval of an overnight girls-basketball trip to Benson in January and an Encroachment Agreement with the City of Browerville.
