City staff recommended the council move forward on declarations that several structures are public nuisances and should be demolished, while tabling one case because of an ongoing sales contract for a property with potential historic value.
Mr. Dogbar reviewed five held-over properties and recommended declarations for 613 Rue Street (a burned structure with no repairs), 613 Texas Street (owner failed to obtain repair permits), 2513 Carrigan Street (fire-damaged with roof collapse and no active permits), and 1332 Congress Street (no owner follow-up after a prior hold). Mr. Dogbar asked the council to table action on 1167 Texas Street because the owner has a sales contract and the incoming owner has a track record of making repairs; staff said tabling could save a historic structure. "I do recommend we table this one at 1167 Texas Street," Mr. Dogbar said.
The clerk also announced appointments to an improvement district for the McGowin Park project (Glenn Mitchell, Thomas Cormier and Michael Albanese). Several purchase orders and CIP items tied to public improvements were also read into the record.
What happens next: staff recommendations will be on the council agenda for the full meeting; in at least one case (1167 Texas Street) staff recommended tabling to allow a sale and possible preservation.
