The Mobile City Council approved multiple measures June 23 that reshaped funding and cleared the way for nuisance demolitions across the city.
Council members passed capital improvement transfers that move funds within District 4 to support Halls Mill Creek public access and related projects, approving the resolutions by voice vote. Mayor Stimpson said the transfers include funding "to help protect drivers" and described a separate package of transfers that will support road and terminal improvements.
The council also approved several consent resolutions that declare specific structures public nuisances and order demolition, including the structure at 613 Rue Street (resolution 40-427), 1163 Texas Street (40-429), 2513 Garrigan Drive, and 1332 Congress Street; actions were adopted by voice vote. An item to declare the structure at 1167 Texas Street a nuisance (40-430) was moved to table and will return for further consideration.
Separately, the council accepted resignations and appointed three members (Clinton Mitchell, Thomas Cormier and Michael Albanese) to the Improvement District for the McGowin Park project (resolution 03512). The body also authorized multiple purchase orders and vendor agreements covering storm drainage vegetation removal, a cruise-terminal elevator replacement, and equipment for public facilities.
Where individual roll-call tallies were not recorded in the public record, actions were taken by voice votes as the meeting minutes reflect. Where available, staff follow-up will record detailed funding allocations and effective dates for the approved projects.
