Byron council approves traffic ordinance, personnel policy amendment, contracts and appointments
Summary
At a Jan. 9, 2023 meeting the City of Byron’s mayor and council unanimously approved Ordinance #2022-9 (traffic and vehicles), a BMP maintenance agreement, an amendment to Personnel Policy 7.2, the appointment of an election superintendent, qualifying fees for 2023, and a landscaping contract; an annexation was approved conditionally.
The City of Byron Mayor and Council met Jan. 9, 2023 and approved a series of consent and business items in a meeting that lasted about 11 minutes.
On a motion by Council Member Michael Chumbley, seconded by Council Member Chris Hodges, the council adopted Ordinance #2022-9, amending subsection 38.2 of Chapter 38 (Traffic and Vehicles); the vote was unanimous. The minutes record the adoption as a second reading and final approval.
Council also approved on unanimous motions several routine items: a permanent BMP maintenance agreement with Lexington RV Park (parcel 054C 025); a resolution amending Personnel Policy 7.2 (Vehicle Assignment and Use) adopting a revised policy effective Jan. 10, 2023; and a resolution authorizing the mayor to execute a contract with Paulk Landscaping.
The council appointed Betty Sims to serve as election superintendent for calendar year 2023 and set qualifying fees for 2023. Council conditionally approved an annexation, pending the landowner’s choice of zoning (A-1 or R-1). All recorded motions in the minutes were moved and seconded (commonly Michael Chumbley and Chris Hodges or Alan Dorsey and Chris Hodges) and passed unanimously.
Mayor Michael Chidester called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m.; the meeting adjourned at 6:11 p.m.
