The vote to call the exam was moved by Jeanette Beck, a member of the Civil Service Commission, and seconded by Diana Davidson; the motion was recorded as approved in the meeting minutes. The commission also recorded that no executive session or public comment occurred during the special meeting.
Under the approved testing plan, candidates must achieve a minimum score of 70% in each phase to continue to the next phase. The exam is divided into three components: a written exam, a typing test and an oral interview. The commission set the overall weighted scoring as Written 50%, Typing 25% and Oral Interview 25%.
Applications are due by Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 5 p.m. A mandatory orientation for applicants is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the City Council Chambers. The written examination is scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. in City Council Chambers. Typing tests and oral interviews will be scheduled for candidates only after they pass the preceding phase with the required minimum score.
The commission did not record further debate or public comment on the testing plan. Next steps are the application filing period and the orientation and testing dates noted above.
